XBTCE verification. safe?

I got locked out of my btc-e account as I haven't logged in for a year. They say I have to now join xbtce and get verified to reactivate. They want me to send a photo id and a utility bill.

I know xbtce has unknown ownership. Should I be worried about identity theft or worse? Thanks.
