Quickest Way To Buy Crypto? [Kraken vs Poloniex vs Gemini]

So I have a few LTC and a small amount of BTC, but I want to expand to some other currencies that are on different exchanges. If I want to make a purchase on Kraken for example, is it best to wire transfer USD or buy BTC on Coinbase and then transfer to an exchange? There just doesn't seem to be a quick, easy way to do this. Plus, upon further research, I see Kraken is kind of unreliable. Would Gemini or Poloniex be a better bet?
