I have a few grand. What variations of things should I buy from the three main?

I'm pretty much, definitely going to get into the crypto game. I've done a lot of research on Ethereum and it seems pretty promising. I'd like to very much throw a few grand at Ethereum, BTC, and litecoin...in the following fractions in my lump sum, and then maybe dollar cost average in the same fractional shares and/or day trade for fun. This is not my retirement money, and i'm willing to lose this as a learning situation. Does the ratio seem optimal? Any other suggestions? I'm on coinbase/gdax, so that's likely all i'll trade.
