Buying and holding Multiple Altcoins securely

Hey guys,

If you have a diverse portfolio of BTC,ETH,Steem, STRAT and other coins, and I am looking to just hold them for a few years, how should I go about that?

The Vault services on coinbase only apply to BTC ETH and LTC. But what about things like Steem and Siacoin? Is it safe to keep on an exchange like bittrex with 2FA set up?
